Spring 2005 DC Semester Class

Posted by Andrew under: College .

“When you’re in jail, a good friend will be trying to bail you out. A best friend will be in the cell next to you saying, ‘Damn, that was fun.’”-Unknown

Here were my colleagues on the DC Semester program in Spring 2005 (after the jump).

Lauren Beck
Lauren Beck- Texas liberals are hard to come by. Lauren interned with the Program on International Policy Attitudes.

brent berselli
Brent Berselli- One of the nicest guys (named Robert who doesn’t go by Robert) you’ll ever meet. Brent followed in the CMC tradition of working for Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates.

amanda brawner
Amanda Brawner- The hostess of many events with the hospitality to boot. She worked as an intern with Congressman Ike Skelton, and the Washington Office of Latin America.

rob carpenter
Rob Carpenter- Don’t be fooled by that great smile, he is as ambitious as they come. As an intern at the White House Office of Political Affairs, he managed to land tickets to the Inaugural speech and ball.

barret foster
Barrett Foster- Barrett has quite the reputation for being both blunt and sharp. Under the tough exterior, Barrett is a good guy and a true CU Buffs fan. Barrett is a fellow Coloradan in CD-2, and interned with Congressman Mark Udall.

nic heidorn
Nicholas Heidorn- Nicholas is an intelligent, well-spoken, and dedicated man. When not interning for Senator Norm Coleman, he was receiving accolades (e.g. the Truman Scholarship). His mission is to later achieve Instant Runoff Voting in California.

timmy killeen
Timmy Killeen- Timmy is not only well-versed in current events and politics, but he is also a treasure trove of knowledge about culture and society. He interned for the Jerry Lewis, Chairman of House Approps.

erinn lachner
Erinn Lachner- Erinn is a genuinely good person, dedicated to helping those around her… and she has great style. She not only interned, but acted as temporary scheduler for Congressman Jerry Weller of Illinois.

tiffany limtanakool
Tiffany Limtanakool- Tiffany comes from the capitol of Thailand to our nation’s capitol, bringing amazing stories of her life abroad. She was an intern with the American Public Health Assc.

eric magnuson
Erik Magnuson- Having the experience of a high school debate champion, Erik is one of the brightest among our group. When not spending his time as work for Rep. Brian Baird, he was found reading books ranging from Chomsky to Oleszek, etc.

hanh pham
Hanh Pham- No matter if she was working at the Children’s Defense Fund or was debating other classmates, Hanh is a defender of the weak and an advocate for compassion. She always contributes substantial and interesting points to our classroom discussion.

liz schultz
Elizabeth Schultz- When she isn’t taking care of her boyfriend (me), she’ was taking care of the President working on the Council of Economics Advisers. In addition to being a great economist, she is a positive force in many lives (including mine).

ajay shah
Ajay Shah- As the sole representative from Harvey Mudd, we asked Ajay every possible question concerning math and science. The scary thing is that he answered those questions, and then answered questions about politics and government. He used these skills working for Maryland-based Biostar Group.

nate yoo
Nathaniel Yoo- Although Nate is the Econ-Accounting major in our group, he has quite a mind for government and politics. He worked on medical malpractice reform (or terrorism risk insurance) at the American Enterprise Institute.

nick zosel-johnson
Nicholas Zosel-Johnson- Much like his boss, Congressman George Miller, Nick was committed to public service and helping the public good. With interests in education, the workforce, and even the environment, Nick has many avenues ahead of him to help the public interest.
